. . . because you never know when it is going to come in handy!?
This philosophy has been the tenet for most of my life (and hence why my tiny house is so full of stuff!). Anyway, here’s a recent story that reinforces the idea…
Years ago a friend of mine into IT gave me an [...]

I guess it had to happen one day. . . !?
All joking aside, Gerald and I did a fantastic little duo gig yesterday evening, playing for a friend’s private art view. Part of the 2009 HVAF Open Studios, the show featured a collection of several artists’ work, and took place in the amazing old courthouse in [...]

On Sunday just gone, the Roberts, Batkin, Andrews Collective performed their third gig, this time in front of the old Clocktower in St Albans city centre.
The weather was great, the crowd actually stayed around to listen – generally a good time was had by all… Above is one photo – again I’ve put lots more [...]

Just seen an episode of the BBC2 reality TV series ‘The Choir’ which
features a 2 second bust of me waiting to play with the soul band I do at
a mini-festival the BBC organised, standing in the rain under an umbreall
looking incredibly fed up!! (and slightly overweight maybe?)
It also features a 3 seconds burst of the [...]

I’ve just seen that my Guiharpitar has made it on to Harp Guitar.net, one of the premier Harp guitar websites. It’s a wonderful site, full of fascinating photos and information on these bizarre and unusual instruments.
Mine is shown on the bottom of the ‘Organology’ page , which is a bit tricky to find – visit [...]

Featured in the piece is David’s ‘lagerphone’, a crazy percussion instrument made from three spade handles, bells and lots of metal disks / bottle tops!
Here is a [...]

For what seems like ages now I’ve been writing and rehearsing with my stupendous nylon-sting guitar playing friend Gerald Roberts. Having done the tortuous bit (ie all the squabbling, negotiating and compromising needed to get an initial set of tunes together), we finally got around to getting some gigs…
Having played at a friends party (many [...]

Last year around this time, Navaro played at the Spratton Folk Festival on the Club Tent Stage. Anyone reading that post may recall that I hoped this year we would play there again, but this time on the Main Stage. . . and indeed we did!
It was great event, very efficiently organised, a marvellous [...]
Washboard Addition. . .

Anyone who read this old post on my washboard renovation project, will recall that I was looking for an additional bell/chime/noisy thing to add to the right hand side of the frame and balance out the two existing bells on the left side.
Lo and behold, just round the corner from my house, I found the [...]

So last weekend, Navaro played at the Cromer Folk Festival, supporting Fairport Convention.
The whole weekend was fabulous, with lovely seaside weather, a wonderful period venue, helpful staff, great sound – an overall great gig. Here’s a photo taken by the resident photographer of the event, the excellent Chris Gill:
The gig was filmed, and a live feed [...]
