My extremely talented friend David Bruce has just sent me a link to the following video >>.

David is a composer of some renown and has recently been involved in composing some ‘steampunk music’ – not only that but he refers to me as the person that introduced him to the term (not actually by name admittedly but he tells me it’s me – about 1.39 in for those that are interested…).

There is lots of interesting stuff in there and some great bits of artwork on show >>

There is also a full video of David’s piece, and a bit more information about the piece, on his site here >>

I recently attended a seminar on social objects given by the blogger, cartoonist and online marketing expert Hugh McLeod (www.gapingvoid.com)

I’ve been a big fan of Hugh’s work and approach for a while now, and was very excited to see him speaking in London. Sharing the night with him was Mark Earls of Herd, another social object expert, who again was great to listen to.

Here is a truly terrible shot I took during their speech – apologies for the awful quality:

Following their talk and a brief question and answer session, Hugh signed prints of his artwork – I am now the proud owner of two of these. I’m looking forward to framing and hanging them on the wall of the study – hopefully they will inspire me to work a bit better, harder and smarter!? (well, something like that!)

The event took place at the excellent (and very swanky) One Alfred Place members club which was a wonderful venue – visit their website here >>

Van graphics job

Here’s a curious little job I’ve just completed. . .

David Dober Designs

David Dobor Designs

I didn’t design the actual logo / typography itself, but was tasked to completely redraw them in a vector format (required for the sign firm to produce the vinyl graphics for the van) from a low resolution bitmapped version.

I tweaked a few things in the process, but I am glad to say the client is very pleased with the end result. David is a high quality landscape gardener – check out his website here: www.daviddobordesigns.co.uk

I am now having great fun trying to spot the van as I drive around town!

I’ve just come across some extremely interesting small bodied / travel guitars, that seem to feature a unique and revolutionary bridge structure.

Selva Guitars

Selva Guitars

www.selvaguitars.com are the creations of a man called Sage, who I came across in a very interesting video presentation on the RelaxShack.com blog here >> .

Although the video is primarily about his ‘alternative’ lifestyle in very simple-style trailer housing, making guitars seems to be his other passion. His website is clearly far from finished, but there are some really interesting photos on there none the less…

There is something about the design of his small guitars  that I find particularly fascinating –  not sure how I ever get to play one over here in England but who knows?! I plan to drop him a line and see if he has any plans for selling/distributing them overseas from the States?

Watch the video – he seems a very interesting fellow! You can see more about the gypsy trailer he has built and lives in on his other website here >>
